A landmark study, published in the Journal of Fertility and Sterility in 2005, indicated the effectiveness of using acupuncture for the treatment of male infertility. Twenty eight patients received acupuncture two times per week over a period of 5 weeks and were then compared to a control group. A sperm analysis was performed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The study concluded that there was a statistically significant increase in the percentage and number of healthy, morphologically correct sperm after the acupuncture. The study went on to conclude that the “treatment of idiopathic male infertility could benefit from employing acupuncture”. [1]
