acupuncture pic1 Acupuncture and Adenosine: Another Reason to Use Acupuncture for Pain Relief A May 2010 study from the journal Nature Neuroscience explains why acupuncture is effective for pain relief.  This if for the skeptics and the scientists!

Adenosine is a pain-relieving neurotransmitter that is released when acupuncture points are stimulated.  The more adenosine our body creates, the more pain relief we get.  Interestingly, the adenosine release was effective only because of a traditional “twirling” method of stimulation for acupuncture points.   Simply inserting the needles without stimulation did not have the same effect.
