In issue #11, of the 2002 Zhejiang Journal of Chinese Medicine, 65 males with varying degrees of varicocele were treated with a Chinese herbal medicine formula for one treatment course which consisted of 3 months.  Varicocele is seen as an issue of blood stagnation with concurrent Kidney deficiency in TCM, therefore the formula consisted of herbs intended to boost the “Kidney”, “quicken the blood” and to “transform stasis”.   Of the 65 men treated with the herbal formula, 11 were cured completely (they conceived), 25 experienced an increase in sperm counts and motility returned to normal.  A moderate effect was experienced by 18 patients while 11 experienced no effect at all.  The total success rate was 83.07%.
