Boost your egg quality with supplementsMore and more research is investigating the effects of supplements for the treatment of infertility; particularly on egg quality. In this recent study published in the journal Gynecological Endocrinology (April 2011), researchers looked at the effect of myo inositol (a B vitamin) and melatonin (the sleep hormone) on egg quality and maturation in women who had experienced past failed IVFs. [1]

Forty six women took the supplements for a total of three months (this is generally the time frame required for an egg to mature). Of the 46 women, 13 had pregnancies and 9 were confirmed echographically (4 had miscarriages).

The study went on to conclude the following: “The treatment with myo-inositol and melatonin improves ovarian stimulation protocols and pregnancy outcomes in infertile women with poor oocyte quality.”
